Look who is back with another potential smash pop hit! Hannyta returns with a follow-up single to her widely successful offerings, 17 and Wildflower: Fluctuating. Following the rhythmic charge, her fans have come to expect from Hannyta, Fluctuating maintains a solid dance beat with syncopated rhythms that listeners can quickly connect and dance to. With the revolving melodies counterbalanced by the acapella segments, listeners are compelled to feel the power of this young artist’s voice and her dynamic command of phrasing and articulation. As each phrase of the lyrics is performed, audiences can relate to the subject matter rather handily. Hannyta explores the concept of dealing with the emotions attached to a troubled relationship. As Hannyta reaches deep into her emotions, she projects these concepts with vivid imagery and rather poignant metaphor. Of course, this is still a pop song that is meant to connect with the distraught listeners in a happy environment, so Hannyta contrasts the prose of her lyrics with a straightforward and direct chorus; “I listen to my mind, it says to let it go, I listen to my heart and I just don’t know.” Which at the end of the day, sums up the entire conflict these connections generate.
The production on Fluctuating is very well-executed. This is a pop song with a dynamic dance beat clearly targeted for commercial mainstream media. The delivery is flawless as each frequency is meticulously mixed into its respective range while blending the overtones to create a full-sounding track that carries out over the listening spectrum. The bottom end is deep and quite funky, giving Fluctuating a pulse in which the audience can easily catch the beat and run with it. This song will easily fit into any club mix, while also appealing to pop and dance radio formats.
As I have been following Hannyta from her debut singles, I am marginally shocked at the maturity and professionalism of each of her performances, yet I feel this potential is what drew me to her music in the first place. As the singles continue to be released in a perfect timeline, fans are treated with this evolution of talent coupled with hard work, and we are witnessing the creation of a modern pop superstar. Fluctuating is a delightful track, and a welcome addition to the growing catalog Hannyta is amassing. As we continue to receive fresh, energetic, and inspiring tracks from Hannyta, it is clear that the industry will not be able to overlook this growing and incredibly talented performer, vocalist, and songwriter.
