Slow Coast, the indie rock sensation hailing from the sun-kissed beaches of California’s Bay Area, is ready to make waves in 2024 with the release of his album, “Depths Like These”. This captivating new release seamlessly blends beachy guitar hooks, punchy grooves, and swirling synths into an infectious and laid-back sound that is sure to captivate audiences worldwide.
To shed light on the creative process behind “Depths Like These” and what lies ahead for Slow Coast, we had the pleasure of sitting down with the mastermind behind the music, Matt, for an exclusive interview.
– Can you start by telling us who’s behind the name Slow Coast?
Currently the music for Slow Coast is all done by me, Matt. The live iteration of the project is quickly coming together but will be a full band to bring new energy to the songs.
– How would you describe your music in just a few words?
Psychedelic beach rock with all the sensibilities of modern pop
– What’s the story behind your latest album “Depths Like These”?
This album is the product of a restless mind slowing down and sifting through my innermost battles. Themes of generational trauma, love/guilt, and resilience are layered beneath driving, danceable grooves.
– What do you want people to take away from your music?
I would love for people to feel like their emotions are validated and can relate to the lyrics that were tough to be so open about. I’d hope the music can give them a reason to dance or even just kick back and forget about the world for a minute.
– Any plans for 2024?
It’s been fun to focus on promoting these songs and getting them heard but I absolutely cannot wait to get back to writing. I hope to even double the amount of music I put out last year. Along with this, I will be expanding into the local live music scene and beyond with an amazing group of musicians.
