The Hate U Give revolves around Starr Carter, a girl played by Amandla Stenberg, who witnesses the fatal shooting of her childhood best friend Khalil at the hands of a police officer. Following the death of her friend, she faces pressures from all sides of the community and must find her voice and stand up for what’s right.
