Up and coming pop sensation Hannyta is back with a follow-up single to her smash debut offering “Wildflower,” with “Make It To The Night.” This expressive piece showcases Hannyta’s range as a vocalist while delivering a tasty song that is soothing, elegant, and very sophisticated. Hannyta, a young singer/songwriter may be new to the scene, yet her fresh perspective on pop melodies and phrasing make this another captivating piece that requires attention. The maturity of this young singer is ever-present throughout the track as each cadence is resolved with an upper register vibrato, which is tastefully not overused, and a slight trill that carries her voice delicately over the listening field. As a young, relatively inexperienced performer, I would expect the overuse of autotune and delay added to her voice, as seems to be the norm in popular music these days, however, the producer on this track has elected to use effects sparingly allowing Hannyta’s true voice to carry out, and be heard in its natural form. Unfortunately for us, the use of compression does come into play as Hannyta resolves her chorus and the voice does seem to get squished into the mix, but this does not take away for the enjoyment of the piece. “Make It To The Night” is a lovely theme of waiting for a love connection, “if I Make It To The Night, will you be there?” As Hannyta explores this concept she casts vivid imagery and utilizes rich metaphor to fully give the listener a mature and poignant point of view.
“Make It To The Night” is an elegant track at its very core. The expressive use of vocal stylings allows Hannyta to make a pop song while hinting at an operatic future. The potential of Hannyta is almost limitless as she explores this genre in her young career, but as she grows, I can see her reaching very high levels of performance. As a pop track, “Make It To The Night” would be an excellent fit for any commercial pop radio playlist. With infectious pop melodies, soothing vocals, and a dynamic hook in the chorus, this is a track that demands multiple listens to fully enjoy the complexities and subtle nuances presented throughout. This is a very enjoyable track, and as a complement to previous material really solidifies Hannyta as a potential performer reaching the upper echelon of popular music performance.
