Diagnosed with autism as a child, Singer has forged a fearless path toward success by educating others and inspiring those with similar diagnoses to see the power in their unique outlook.

We recently sat down with Cory to talk about his single and his experiences that led up to the creation of the ballad. Keep reading to hear what he had to say!

MC: Hi Cory! First, we’d love to say that your latest single blew us away. Can you tell us what the writing and recording process was like for “Chance of a Lifetime (The Truth)”?

CS: First of all, thank you! And this song is actually one of the easiest ones I have ever written. I based it on a couple that I knew, I was thinking that I would have been so much better for the woman in the relationship then who she was with. The song was written in less than a half hour.

MC: The response to both this single and “Chance of a Lifetime (The Proposal)” has been wonderful. Have you noticed that one song speaks louder than the other about where your own career is headed?

CS: The proposal was a writing exercise. My mentor Devon O’Day said that I should try to rewrite it as a proposal song. The truth- the original version- is getting more recognition based on how much more relatable it is. I also feel like it’s more honest. My best songs are very honest, and the more honest you are, the more relatable you are.

MC: You write the majority of your music while also working full-time and inspiring others on your massively successful TikTok account. How do you make time to do all the things that inspire you?

CS: I’ve always been a very driven person. I pride myself in bettering myself in what I do each day. Plus, the feedback on TikTok is a great motivator.

MC: Over the last ten years, you’ve written countless songs and performed in many musicals and shows. Is there one song that will always stick with you?

CS: Of all the songs that I’ve written, I think that Someone is one of my personal favorites. It was the first time that I wrote a song that I could be proud of, and it was the first time that I was truthful in my writing.

MC: Your activism for autism awareness is beautiful to see. How do you think you would have been impacted if someone like you had connected with you as a child?

CS: I actually have. My best friend and I met when we were little kids, and we’ve been close ever since. It made me feel less alone, and I’m thankful to still be friends with him today.

MC: What do you see yourself doing in 5 years? What’s the most important thing to you right now to get there?

CS: I hope I am making a living off of my music. I just have to keep doing what I’ve been doing: working hard!
