Listen to The Weeknd cover R. Kelly’s ‘Down Low’

During Oliver El-Khatib‘s set on OVO Sound Radio on Saturday night, he premiered a new track by The Weeknd.

The new track is a cover of R. Kelly’s ‘Down Low‘ which was released on his self-titled album, R. Kelly, back in 1995. Abel Tesfaye‘s version doesn’t stray too far from the original although the beat for the track adds a vibe that’s more fitting with the hip-hop/trap music of recent years. The Weeknd’s remix of the track may have only now officially appeared online, but the singer has been reportedly performing the remix since as far back as 2014 in concert. Listen to the track below.

In addition to premiering the ‘Drop Down‘ remix, during the OVO show on Saturday, two new cuts from Canadian singer Roy Woods were also premiered. Listen to the two new tracks, ‘New New‘, which was produced by DZY and Big A and features rapper Rich The Kid, and ‘City’, which is a collaboration with Sha Hustle and Rodzilla, below.

Woods is preparing to drop his debut album, Say Less, and released the Stwo produced lead single ‘What Are You On?‘ back in July.
