Marina Diamandis accuses designer of photoshopping her legs “to look like literal sticks”

Marina Diamandis, formerly known as Marina and the Diamonds, has hit out after a photograph that saw her legs and thighs photoshopped “to look like literal sticks” surfaced online.

The singer took to Twitter to air her frustration about the image which was altered by an as-of-yet unnamed fashion designer before they posted it to Instagram.

“I wore a designer’s clothes to an award show recently to support her. The next day she posted a photo of me on Instagram + had photoshopped my legs and thighs to look like literal sticks,” The Electra Heart star wrote.

“This is internalised misogyny in full action. For fuck’s sake. Do BETTER. Be less dumb.”

“I didn’t feel hurt by this. It was about her, not me. But 10 years ago I would have been,” Diamandis continued, “It feels super irresponsible & unkind to distort a woman’s figure for what is essentially someone else’s vanity.”

Marina left the designer unnamed, refusing to reshare the altered photo.

The singer recently made a welcome return to music with Lorde and Sam Smith produced single, ‘Handmade Heaven’.

It’s the first song from Marina in four years and the product of a total rebrand the singer, who used her hiatus from music “as a period of reflection and to rediscover her authentic self, as opposed to the artist and persona (‘and The Diamonds’) she had lived and breathed since signing her record deal at the age of 22.”
