The genesis of “Vacation” is as charming as its melody. The lyrics and most of the melody were conceived in an unexpected location—the bathroom—during Theresa’s trip. Throughout the track, Theresa’s vocals are sensational. There’s nothing better than the feeling the artist had fun whilst making a track, and that’s exactly the vibe ‘Vacation’ gives off. Her captivating, bold vocals sails over the synth-soaked instrumentation below. Pounding drums drive the track forward, giving the track an irresistible groove. Reflecting on this creative burst, Theresa shares, “I pretty much wrote all the lyrics and most of the melody in my head that trip. When working with Lu D, I shared my vision with him, and we created an infectious bop in just a couple of hours. It’s such a special song and I’m actually happy that it took a little longer to finish as I do think it was worth the wait!”
In March 2023, the song took its final form during a songwriting trip to LA, where Theresa collaborated with Lu D of Mystery Skulls. Together, they crafted the energetic tune in just a few hours, with the final production touches added by Mike MacAllister. “Vacation” captures the essence of a much-needed getaway, with an infectious beat, catchy melody, and optimistic lyrics, making it the perfect summer anthem.
