SEETHE Spins Fresh Nu-Metal Sounds With “SIFT”

Review By James Buckey

Pittsburgh, PA artist Seethe kicks in the door with his new single “Sift”, blending the feel of the early aught golden era nu-metal wave with modern bass-heavy trap style beats. Off DI Records, Seethe (9 Stitch Method vocalist Patrick McElravy) brings a handful of ambiance and distorted guitar tones to heavy bass and programmed rhythms; though it’s the vocals that carry this track specifically.

Seethe finds a middle ground between the sometimes somber and haunting vocalities of Korn or Marilyn Manson, with crispy executed fry screams that sonically provide an added layer of color and emotion to the musical canvas painted from the beat by producer Nvameless. Tying everything together is the applaudable mixing and mastering of Gus Wallner of You Think Music, which lets the heavy bass come through against both the guitar line and the vocals without creating too much mud. Seethe gives us an opportunity to dial into each ingredient of “Sift” at any time – something nu-metal hasn’t always provided listeners.

The ultra digestible new single “Sift”  is out February now on DI Records, for fans of Korn, Marilyn Manson, Ghostmane, or any nu-metal vibe of the last twenty years – honestly.

About Seethe: Born in 2020 amidst the Covid-19 pandemic, “Seethe” emerged from the mind of 9 Stitch Method vocalist and brainchild Patrick McElravy. With his emotionally charged vocals akin to the early 00’s Nu Metal movement and the distorted, electronic barrage of Trap Metal artists Ghostmane and Scarlxrd, Seethe sets out to pave his own path meshing sounds of the past and present musical soundscapes. Having opened up for acts such as King 810 and being featured in the publication “Nu Metal: The Definitive Guide” alongside Nu Metal giants Korn and Deftones, Seethe’s career has shown much promise despite its short existence. Having signed to DI Records in Winter of 2022, Seethe released the dense and distorted Ep “Lucid Dream” and is now expanding his brash brand of Nu Metal into the New Year with his newest singles “Mute” and “Sift”.
