In the last couple of weeks, James Blake has played a couple of 3-night residencies in Los Angeles and San Francisco, his first live performances since wrapping up his full-scale jaunt in support of third album The Colour In Anything. He seemed to be taking these gigs in California as an opportunity not only to prepare for his upcoming high-profile support slot with Kendrick Lamar around Europe, but also to test out some brand new material.
Fan-shot videos of three new songs have surfaced, which are apparently called ‘I Can’t Believe That We Float‘, ‘Asking For A Friend‘ and ‘Black Lung‘ – sounds like typically cheery stuff, then. At the end of ‘Black Lung‘, Blake then segues into a cover of Radiohead‘s ‘Videotape‘, which is also caught in the video that you can see below.
For now, that is the last that we’ll hear of James Blake in a live setting until he teams up with Kendrick, but it certainly has us intrigued about new material from him.
