The songs on Dave Christman’s new EP ‘Afterimage’ spring from a number of sources and inspiration, both in terms of musical influence and subject matter, but memory and the ways people recast and respond to the past is a prominent theme. “Sparkler (See Her In The Sky)” presents a clear-eyed appreciation for the excitement of a long-ago relationship; “Alice,” despite an upbeat, poppy vibe, is tinged with regret; while “I Remember You” explores the past with an edge and hints of retribution. The EP was recorded and produced in a variety of small and home studios, mainly in the New York City area. In addition to Dave (guitars and vocals), personnel include Fred Pratt (bass and vocals), Robbie Kondor (keyboards), and Karen Lloyd (vocals). Tony Conniff produced and added his bass guitar and keyboard talents to the EP. ‘Songwriting is often a solitary pursuit so collaborating with great musicians to bring these stories to life was really a joy.‘ – Dave Christman
