Exclusive Interview: Country rising star Sabrina Ponte tells all about new single “Chance of Whiskey”

Sabrina Ponte, rising country star residing in Nashville, TN, has music out on all streaming platforms – most recently released was her single ‘Chance of Whiskey.’

You can listen to the single here:

Ponte showed promise in her future beginning at a young age. Growing up, Sabrina was actively involved within her church choir, and participated in theater and opera. Her passion for music would eventually lead her to graduate from the New England Conservatory of Music while in high school and go on to graduate Berklee College of Music.

How did you know you wanted to pursue music in your life? It has always been something I have loved and connected to. I want to be able to share my story and art with people and use that platform to make a positive impact.

What is your favorite type of music to sing, and what is your favorite to LISTEN to? I genuinely love singing everything from opera to musical theater to music I hear in church to oldies to mainstream pop, country, rock, and R&B, but recently have been listening to more country and pop.
Tell us the story behind ‘Chance of Whiskey.’ How did this song come to be? It is about having an unexpected night out and, because of an old flame showing up, you know there’s a “chance of whiskey.” I thought of the line “chance of whiskey” and really wanted to write around that. I decided to bring it into a write one day with Andreas Eriksson and Jake Lindholm and recorded it later at Record One in Nashville.
Who are your biggest musical inspirations? I have so many but love how Sheryl Crow, Shania, and Taylor Swift have done a great job not just identifying with one genre and connecting to a variety of people.
Do you have more music coming out soon? I do! Stay tuned for my next singles ‘Gaslight’ and ‘Blame Me.’
What does your run with Miss Music City USA mean to you? I am so honored to be Miss Music City 2023 and look forward to making the most out of this opportunity. I have always wanted to use my platform for positive change and that is exactly what I will continue striving for.
You’re competing in Miss TN – what is your favorite category to do? When I was competing in the Miss America Organization it was talent. My last time performing talent at Miss Tennessee I won best overall talent performing the operatic vocal “O Mio Babbino.” This year I will be competing in the Miss USA organization and am really looking forward to interview!
What do you want your audience to take away from your music? I want them to be able to feel something and that is going to be different with every song. Some are more uplifting, some are healing, and some will make you want to dance. Writing music is a way for me to express myself and I hope by sharing it people are able to connect to it. It feels really good to hear someone enjoyed something I created and/or to hear what it means to them.

Sabrina is a woman of immense talent; in addition to singing, she is also a signed model/actress, as well as had success in the Miss America Organization and is currently competing in the Miss USA organization. In the end, Sabrina seeks to make a difference within her community, and she uses the power of music to reach that goal. Sabrina is incredibly passionate about giving back, and has helped to fundraise thousands of dollars for The Children’s Miracle Network, women’s scholarships, and organizations that help to feed the hungry in Tennessee.

“I truly hope to use my platform to be able to make a difference. One person can make a difference, not everyone needs to do what we think are big miraculous things because one small thing can really be that miraculous thing in someone’s day.”

She was recently crowned Miss Music City USA 2023, and will be competing to win the Miss Tennessee USA Crown in March of 2023.
