Originally from Mauritius and now based in the UK, Rahul Suntah is an incredible pianist who uses more than just the keys of the piano.
Rahul recently released his newest composition ‘Horizons’.
‘Horizons’ sees Rahul Suntah deliver a catchy piano melody that instantly lifts our mood.
Rahul Suntah has taken time out of his busy schedule to answer a few of our questions.
1) How did you get into music in the first place?
The piano is what first got me into music. My mom encouraged me to learn the piano in a music conservatory back in Mauritius where I studied for 7 years. Then over the years I became interested in composition and production.
2) What was the inspiration for Horizons?
The idea initially started off as a collaboration with a radio programme that was looking for a jingle. I wanted to create an original, happy, upbeat, feel-good, Dance inspired track out of sounds only produced with an acoustic piano for people to have fun to. My goal is always to expand the ‘horizons’ of what a piano can do and sound like and show how beautiful of an instrument it is.
People normally expect classical tunes from the piano but I’m always defying that expectation and trying to show that the piano can do more than that.
3) What tunes are currently on repeat on your Mp3 Player?
Polyphia – Playing God
Earth, Wind & Fire – After The Love Has Gone
Harry Styles – Late Night Talking
4) What’s next for you musically
More concerts, more covers, more originals. I am performing for an award show in Amsterdam this week. I am also preparing a new original album.
