Indian American Simantinee Roy recently announced a special initiative calling on women to join her creative platform, Spotfile Studio. The initiative seeks to provide women with access to mentorship, recording and publishing with Spotlife Studio Records, and hopes to build a community that understands the nuances of their journey. Whether they are singers, songwriters, producers, or instrumentalists, women are encouraged to reach out and become part of Spotlife Studio’s growing network.
Music Crowns had the pleasure of speaking to Simantinee to find out more about the initiative and gather her insights on the industry.

You’ve spoken about facing struggles as a South Asian woman in the music industry. Can you share a moment that shaped your decision to build a platform for other women?
This platform was built to uplift all artists, regardless of gender, by providing opportunities that many, including myself, have struggled to find. One defining moment was realizing the lack of representation and support for south asian independent artists, especially from diverse backgrounds outside India. Spotlife Studio and its collaborations/initiatives are created to break barriers and empower talent to shine on a global stage
Spotlife Studio has already helped 100 South Asian talents through your Saregama Openstage collaboration — what impact do you hope this new initiative will have?
Saregama Openstage was one of the most successful partnerships, giving South Asian talents a well-deserved global platform to showcase their musical abilities and release their recreations on India’s leading music label . With this new initiative, Spotlife Studio Records aims to provide even greater opportunities—offering artists access to top-tier production, strategic marketing, and global distribution. Being part of Spotlife means having a dedicated team that helps artists grow, connect with the right audiences, and build sustainable careers in the music industry
How do you envision Spotlife Studio transforming the landscape for women in music, especially those from underrepresented backgrounds?
We provide a platform where talent is nurtured, voices are amplified, and artists receive the resources and visibility they deserve.
Your life story is incredibly inspiring — from being a lymphoma survivor to a corporate leader and a chart-topping artist. How have these diverse experiences shaped your approach to leadership?
To overcome lymphoma (fingers crossed), being able to lead in the corporate world, and thrive as an artist have certainly taught me resilience, adaptability, and the power of purpose. These experiences shape my leadership by instilling empathy, strategic vision, and a commitment to uplifting others. Whether in business or music, I lead with authenticity, ensuring every challenge is met with innovation and every success is shared
The music industry is evolving, but progress can be slow. What shifts do you hope to see in the next 5-10 years for female musicians?
I hope to see more women in leadership roles—whether as executives, producers, or headliners at major festivals—so that female musicians aren’t just performing but also shaping the industry. The industry needs to move beyond token representation and foster true inclusivity, offering equal opportunities in all aspects of music creation, production, and distribution. Additionally, I hope the pay gap closes, and there’s greater support for female artists balancing their careers with personal commitments, ensuring longevity in their musical journeys.
How do you personally define success for female artists — and how can platforms like Spotlife Studio help artists achieve that success?
Success isn’t just about chart rankings or viral hits—it’s about impact, creative freedom, and longevity. A successful female artist is one who owns her narrative, builds a loyal audience, and sustains a career on her own terms. At Spotlife Studio, we focus on providing emerging artists with visibility, mentorship ensuring they have the right platforms to grow while staying true to their artistry. We want to create an ecosystem where south asian musicians feel empowered, valued, and heard.
If you could leave aspiring female artists with one powerful message, what would it be?
Own your voice, trust your journey, and never let anyone define your worth. The road may not always be easy, but your passion, authenticity, and resilience will set you apart. Keep creating, keep pushing boundaries, and know that your music has the power to inspire and transform lives. If your music brings a smile or has the power of healing, know that you may have won a few hearts, but your name will resonate in their lives for a long time
