Born in Virginia, Tom Sykes was discovered and nurtured by none other than the legendary John Hammond, one of the most important figures in 20th century popular music, responsible for launching the careers of such music idols as Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen and Aretha Franklin among others.
Mr. Hammond was one of the very early inductees into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Under Mr. Hammond’s tutelage, Sykes began touring the south eastern United States, opening for such acts as Robert Palmer and Firefall.
But, before his first record could be recorded, Sykes’ mentor John Hammond died and due to a series of mishaps and contractual obligations, Sykes left the music business.
In 2015, Tom picked up his guitar and decided to pursue his dreams once again.
Last year saw Tom Sykes release ‘What Were You Thinking’, which begins with an uplifting and radiant instrumental intro.
Tom Sykes penned the lyrics for ‘What Were You Thinking’ but the vocals and instrumentals originate from Grammy award winning artists.
