Let’s chat to Anna in this exclusive interview…

  1. “Chico” tells a story of love across different worlds—can you tell us what inspired  this song and how it reflects your personal experiences?

“The inspiration for Chico came from exploring contrasts in people’s lives and the  thrill that often comes with the unknown. It tells the story of two people from  different worlds—a young woman enjoying life in her twenties, and a man in his mid thirties with serious responsibilities. They feel a strong attraction, but it’s not a typical  love story. Instead, it’s about the excitement of crossing paths with someone so  different, without romantic intentions. While it isn’t directly from my experiences, I  can relate to the feeling of curiosity and intrigue when encountering people with  different lifestyles. It’s a song that celebrates freedom and adventure, which are  things I hold close.”

  1. How did your multicultural background influence the sound and story of “Chico”?

“My multicultural background has always given me a broader perspective on people  and music. Being half-Bulgarian and half-Austrian has exposed me to various  languages, rhythms, and sounds, and Chico reflects this by blending Spanish and  Italian influences with modern pop. I love how different cultures bring their own  intensity to music, and with Chico, I wanted to capture that vibrant, adventurous  feeling I’ve seen in both Bulgarian and Spanish/Italian music. The multicultural aspect  helps me create stories and sounds that are both relatable and fresh for a wide  audience.”

  1. What was the creative process like for “Chico”? Did you encounter any challenges  along the way?

“The process for Chico was incredibly fun and visual. It started when my producer and  I experimented with beats and landed on something that felt distinctively and  exciting. The storyline naturally developed from there—I began imagining this intense  encounter between two very different people, and it evolved quickly. One challenge  was striking the right balance between the storytelling and the music itself. I wanted  to keep the story clear but also let the beat speak, so we worked hard to layer the  lyrics and sound in a way that kept the energy high while telling the story. It was a  challenge, but a rewarding one.”

  1. Are there any particular artists or genres that influenced the production of  “Chico”?

“Definitely! Spanish and Italian pop and rap are big influences for me, and I drew a lot  of inspiration from their energetic, passionate style. I love how artists in these genres  tell stories with a bit of drama and flair, without losing the beat’s momentum. I also  looked up to artists who combine storytelling with fun rhythms, making songs that  feel like scenes from a movie. The mix of these influences helped Chico take shape as  both a story and a track that people can dance to.”

  1. How would you describe your artistic evolution from your first single to this one?

“From my first single to Chico, I feel I’ve grown more confident in embracing unique  storytelling in my music. My first single was about exploring my sound, but with  Chico, I was more intentional with the narrative and vibe. I leaned into visual  storytelling, imagining every scene as I wrote, which brought new depth to the music.  I’d say my style has become more refined—I’m taking risks and blending influences,  and I feel more connected to the creative direction I want my music to take.”

  1. How do you balance storytelling with creating a catchy, engaging sound in your  music?

“Balancing storytelling with an engaging sound is something I love experimenting  with. For me, the key is to make the story simple but vivid, so listeners can feel the  essence without needing too many details. With Chico, the beat and rhythm play a  big role in conveying the excitement between the characters, so I made sure the  lyrics didn’t overshadow the music. I believe that when a story feels natural, it flows  with the sound, and that’s what keeps the song catchy yet meaningful.”
