Australian producer Jantoje, known for his unique blend of indie-dance/electro-house music, just returned with a new EP titled ‘Verano’. We got to chat with the artist around this new release.
– Can you tell us a bit about yourself and how you got into music production?
I’m 28 and live on the Central Coast of NSW and I’ve been producing for about 8 or so years now. When I first turned 18 and was able to go out, I fell in love with the music that was coming out of Melbourne at the time, a few years later I decided to give production a go on fruity loops. I eventually transferred over to Ableton a few years later and the rest is history.
– What inspired the creation of your project, Jantoje?
I was listening to a bunch of different genres of electronic music at the time and really wanted a fresh start with an original sound. Sounds that inspire people to travel and to create melodies and sounds that evoke emotion
– Congratulations on the release of your EP “Verano”! Can you share the inspiration behind the title?
At the time of writing some of the EP I was travelling through Europe during the summer, and I felt that it would be a perfect fit! “Verano” means summer in Spanish.
– How would you describe the overall theme or vibe of the EP?
I feel like the EP has a bit of everything. ‘Runaway’ fully captures that summer travelling with your mate vibe, whilst ‘Honesty’ is a little more club friendly, capturing the night life of a European summer. ‘Heart Strings’ I’ve tried to encapture nostalgic feelings, adding the cherry on top.
– What was the creative process like while working on “Verano”?
It was super easy!! It came together really well and quick. I usually have a bunch of progressions that I have made, and place beat on it from there. I either play around with some vocal samples or find an artist who would be interested in toplining over them. For me, the most difficult part for me is perfecting the mix!
– Your music has been compared to a mix between Rufus Du Sol, Odesza, and Hayden James. How have these artists influenced your sound?
For me, electronic music is all about the emotions created from the melodies, sound design and harmonies and these guys do it the best! I definitely take inspiration from their music.
– Are there any other artists or genres that have had a significant impact on your music?
Disclosure are one of the biggest influences and would have to be one of my favourite projects.
– Any upcoming projects or collaborations you can share with your fans?
I’m constantly working on new music so keep your ears peeled
