We had a chat with ambient music producer Le Code around the release of his new album “Into The Wild” – an ode to nature.
Hello and thank you for welcoming me to this interview. Indeed, my new album has just been released and as its name indicates, “Into The Wild” is an ode to nature. I’ve wanted to make an album dedicated to nature in all its forms for a long time. Each track integrates field recording and is different each time: you can hear birds in the heart of a forest, the waves of the ocean, the wind of the desert… So many different atmospheres but all of them are linked to emotions related to nature.
I think I would choose “Between Two Shores”, the 2nd track of the album. It’s the first single from this LP that I released and it synthesizes a lot of the sounds I’ve been using lately. It also incorporates a recurring sound in my compositions generated by pedals that I can’t get enough of. I guess that this cascade of notes has become like a musical pattern of mine.
And then this track is dedicated to the ocean, with the sounds of waves. The sea has a special place in my heart, maybe because I live in the mountains. I miss it regularly, and I need to go to the seaside at least once a year.
I think ambient has always been in the back of my mind, and I fought against it for a long time, assimilating this genre to the new-age current which sometimes has a negative connotation. Since I evolve in this style, I realize that I was mistaken, so much there are different currents and musical richness in this genre.
If before I had gone towards deep techno and electro-rock, I finally chose ambient between 2021 and 2022. And it’s the genre in which I feel the best, where I feel like I’m really blossoming and I’m finally me, musically. So I’ve reached a personal achievement thanks to ambient, and I feel very good in it.
Now that the machine is launched, and that I spent the first year focusing on my personal project, I intend to continue this way. I regularly compose music, both albums and singles, and the next one will be dedicated to the city: is ambient only for natural ambiances? I don’t think so, I think that the city and the urban ambiances can also lend themselves to it, and it’s an exercise in which I immersed myself.
I’m also going to compose an album in partnership with a luxury restaurant/hotel in Annecy, it’s an exciting collaboration that will be released during the year.
Finally, I will try to keep posting ambient videos on my YouTube channel, I am thinking about proposing other content via this format.
