Q&A with T-Roy aka Reezy

  • Can you tell us about your journey into the world of hip-hop and how you discovered your passion for music?

I believe the first time I discovered my love for music was watching my family singing on the holidays. My journey into hip hop started with LL COOL J and later Ice Cube because he dived into tales that hit close to home.

 

  • You’ve shared stages with major artists such as Trina, Lil Scrappy, T-Pain, and Young Dro. What have these experiences taught you about the industry and your craft?

T-Pain taught me how to rock the stage and to have the crowd engaged with you, Overall these experiences showed me how to perform without the lyrics. They pay to listen to you live, if they wanted to hear the recording they can play it at home. 

 

  • How do you balance your roles as an artist and entrepreneur within the music industry?

I take it day by day which role is needed for which situation in order to work toward the goal.

 

  • Your debut album “Spit Fire” made a significant impact. Can you share the inspiration behind it and what it meant for your career?

The Impact Spit Fire made was an audial representation of the Bay Area Hip Hop . To elevate a company and its artists through Dues Paid Ent sort of like what Dr. Dre did with carnage. Thanks to my brother L7 we made it happened and helped put West Coast Hip Hop on the map

 

  • You’ve been featured on various compilations and mixtapes. How do you approach collaborations and what do you aim to bring to each project?

I aim to bring my best. I approach each compilation with my heart and soul to capture the best essense of me.

 

  •  Your latest album, “R.E.A.L 2”, showcases your evolution as an artist. Can you discuss the creative process behind this project and what listeners can expect from it?

The process honestly included my brother and it got the ball rolling for part II . Spending time with my brother Top Cat and reflecting on experiences that helped contribute to the storyline of the story. The listeners can expect great stories, conversations with yourself and more

 

  • Can you share a memorable moment or experience from your career that has shaped you as an artist?

Performing for L Recon performing at the friscoback party with all hip hop artists from the Bay Area still remembered to this day.

 

  • What message or feeling do you hope listeners take away from listening to your music, particularly from “R.E.A.L 2”?

I hope that my listeners can take what I learned and possibly apply it in a constructive way on their journey wherever it may lead to them.
