Music Crowns Style Guide
MUSIC CROWNS STYLE GUIDE 2025/26
ARTICLES
– Articles are not limited in size or length but should aim to be 150-300 words long.
TITLES
– Titles need to be in lowercase aside from names and places and have single apostrophes around the song name.
For example:
Frankie 5Ø3 bridges cultures and emotions with sun-kissed new single ‘P0C0 A P0C0’ – CORRECT STYLE
Instead of… FRANKIE 503 CULTURES AND EMOTIONS WITH SUN-KISSED NEW SINGLE “P0C0 A P0C0” – INCORRECT STYLE
IMAGES
– Images should be 750 pixels wide as a MINIMUM to stretch across the featured image section and other thumbnails.
Letterbox/postbox/rectangular shape is the best format (not square but this is not the end of the world if the graphic is built like that). Please try and make sure the artist images are aesthetically pleasing and credit and photographers within the article should they seek this.
NB: Images/graphics can be edited and cropped within WordPress to give a rectangular shape with ease.
– You must SET FEATURED IMAGE otherwise you get a horrible blank space on the article and website as a whole.
CATEGORIES
– Please leave the category as the default ‘New Music’ unless it is something specifically not a new music release (for example an Interview).
– NEVER (please!) select Live Sessions as a category (https://www.musiccrowns.org/category/live-sessions/) as these are reserved to our own in-house shot content.
COPY AND PASTING / FORMATTING
– Please, where possible, try and use the ‘CODE’ editor version of uploading your press releases/articles as this removes the horrible formatting that can come across with you when you copy and paste content from Microsoft Word documents, emails and .PDFs.
We realise this isn’t easy or feasible for everyone and so sometimes ‘VISUAL’ code editor is the preferred option for you. We’re not super-precious about British spelling and grammar or your personal style, just that it looks nice and pretty and reads well!
EMBEDS AND LINKS
You can typically really easily embed YouTube, Spotify, Apple, SoundCloud and other embed codes to the articles. Just ensure spacing and formatting is good and also ensure any links entered are working and not broken.
We hope this guide isn’t too daunting and just provides a framework for best practices. You can contact us via info@musiccrowns.org if you have any issues or questions.
