The iconic 80s band, A Flock of Seagulls, are back with a bang and their first album of new material since 1995. Titled “Some Dreams”, the LP featuring ten brand new songs is set to release on Dec 13th this year. Lead by the talented Mike Score, the band once again showcases their signature synth sounds blended beautifully with driving guitars and high energy rhythms.
Their lead single, also titled “Some Dreams”, was released in the autumn and has received critical acclaim from fans and critics alike. Following closely is “Him”, a heart-wrenching love ballad that fans are calling one of Score’s finest pieces of writing. The album also features a variety of moods, from the moody “Fool” to the Japan-inspired “Time” and even a Beatles-inspired track, “Castles In The Sky”.
After a successful North American tour, A Flock of Seagulls will hit the road again for extensive dates starting next spring. Fans can watch the music video for their first single by visiting their official YouTube channel, @aFIockOfSeagulls. For those not familiar with A Flock of Seagulls, the band rose to fame in the 80s as part of the new romantic movement, known for their synth-heavy and stylish sound. Led by hairdresser Mike Score, the band also includes his brother Ali on drums, fellow hairdresser Frank Maudsley on bass, and guitarist Paul Reynolds.
Their debut album, released in 1982, featured the iconic single “I Ran (So Far Away)”, with its unforgettable video showcasing Score’s distinctive, cascading hair. The single climbed into the American Top Ten, propelling the album to success. While “I Ran” may not have made the Top 40 in the UK, their second single, “Wishing (If I Had a Photograph of You)” reached number ten that same year. A Flock of Seagulls has become a staple in pop culture, with their music featured in hit TV shows like Friends, The Wedding Singer, and even the recent box office hit, La La Land. Produced by Mike Score, Mikal Read, and Sare Havlicek, the album was recorded at various studios across the world, including Loop Studio Liverpool, Loop Studio Floria, Toykorama Studio Slovenia, and XXXX Studio Los Angeles.
The album also features guest appearances by Kiku Collins on trumpet, Alex Toff and Ben Le Court on drums. Mike Score would like to thank his wife Ceena Score and his parents Patricia and Peter Score, as well as the Paradise and Boss agencies and everyone involved in making this record possible. With its mix of catchy synth-pop and meaningful lyrics, “Some Dreams” is a must-have for any A Flock of Seagulls fan. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to add this album to your collection and catch the band on their upcoming tour. “Some Dreams” is a testament to A Flock of Seagulls’ talent and continued relevance in the music industry.
