Ahead of his debut EP We Can Talk For Hours, Addley has been making waves both in his hometown of Liverpool and in the music press. Nods to the distinct sound of ‘Say It Anyway’ and ‘Take Me Home’ saw his hazy electronica/indie-rock blends pick up the ears of tastemakers. Continuing to pick up on the live scene with a five-piece act, Addley’s talent is not to be ignored.
The artist’s ability to create infectious, genre-bending tracks is becoming more and more cemented with each release, and new single ‘Blue & Gold’ is no exception. The underlying warmth of a punchy groove, a firm, full drum line and an array of synths and keys that light up the darkness in glorious vibrance all serve to a captivating final product.
The lead vocals are honest and attention-grabbing, the emotions explode from within Addley, each melody charged with pure expression. With each listen, another layer reveals itself the expansive climaxes making a consistent impact and the earworm top line embedding itself in your mind.
Addley shares how, “’Blue and Gold’ is a song about being unable to resist a person you should stay away from. It’s about my relationships as a gay man on dancefloors and beyond, having fun and regretting it after… until doing it all again.”
