Writing music since 2014, starting off with just emptying his mind on the page and slowly creating rhymes out of these feelings, Danish/Tamil artist Akarti has been making waves with his music. He made the jump to recording artist in 2020 with the lockdown giving him the opportunity to craft his first release, the artist has been consistent with singles ever since.
The latest from Akarti, new single ‘Addicted’, slots right in with the kind of UK Drill we’ve seen top the charts over the past few years. A high-energy, diverse flow packed with thoughtful and well-written bars. Akarti also brings a very catchy hook that will have you coming back to the track again and again. Hard hitting kicks, bouncy snares and clean percussion backs up a melodic sample originally from P. Diddy’s ‘I Need A Girl (Part 2)’, more recently used in James Hype’s ‘Ferrari’. The slick beat shows off drills ability to turn old sounds into new ones with their non-stop sampling game.
Akarti shares, “Basically I was at home browsing through beats and I couldn’t really find anything that I was vibing to. I had already booked studio time so I had to go up there with nothing prepared. Then we started browsing through some beats and we found that one beat that had the vibe to it. We wanted to have some fun with it so that’s why the song ended up being I’m feeling myself type of song and that’s how the infamous line in the song was created ‘I’m a bit of a dick, that’s why she addicted’
Everybody says it reminds them of the track Doja by Central Cee.”
