Candian singer-songwriter Alex Frew has made his debut with the stirring pop single ‘Get Out Alive’, released today (June 12th). It’s not often that an artist debuts with a track that is so sonically polished and vocally emotive; at just eighteen years old, Frew is announcing his arrival with an already masterful sound. Whilst delicate guitar melodies float beneath a measured hip-hop leaning beat, Frew’s mellifluous voice sings emotionally candid lyrics that pluck directly at listeners’ heartstrings.
Frew cities his inspirations as Bon Iver, Interpol, Khalid and The 1975. With some of the most talented alt-pop artists forming his biggest influences, it’s no surprise that Frew sounds confident in his sound so early in his career. But ‘Get Out Alive’ is distinctively original, and the lyrics nodding towards social anxiety struggles make this track incredibly relevant in modern society. Signed by Warner Music Canada, Alex Frew is definitely set to make a strong debut in 2020.
