Alt-rock outfit Sample Text unleash their intoxicating synth infused style in ‘Aphrodite’

Northern alternative-rock quartet SMPL TXT (Sample Text) introduces their latest single ‘Aphrodite’ — a captivating blend of infectious melodies and poignant lyricism.

Produced by Tim Malkin at Green Room Studios (known for Adult DVD and Japanese Television), ‘Aphrodite’ unveils the band’s unique fusion of heartfelt songwriting and rich, layered 70s-inspired soundscapes. The track seamlessly combines strummed acoustic guitars with subtle flecks of tremolo-tinted electrics, plucky basslines, dappled glitches of synth, and shuffling drums, setting a whimsical tone under the yearning, fragile lead vocal.

Reflecting on the track, lead guitarist and songwriter Jordan shares, “I wrote Aphrodite just before lockdown when I was smitten with a girl that I’d been friends with for a long time, so it was like this scary confession. I imagined myself playing it at an open mic for her and it being a Disney film ending but it didn’t work out, and the song took on this sort of sadness which I think a lot of people connect to.”

‘Aphrodite’ strikes a delicate balance between infectious catchiness and emotional depth. With a growing and dedicated fan base, the band has filled renowned venues including Bootleg Social and The Jacaranda. Now, with a flurry of new material, SMPL TXT is poised to make 2024 their biggest year yet, solidifying their position as ones to watch in the music industry.
