East Coast alternative rock/pop-punk crew Northvale have dropped a new single.

The heart-rendering “Hang in There, Kid” offers an honest and deeply personal look at depression and issues of mental health, a call to arms in the battle against an illness that ravages so many.

Opening up on the band’s latest release, lead vocalist Keith Karol explains: “Hang In There Kid” is a poignant exploration of despair and the brink of giving up, narrated through the lens of someone contemplating the finality of suicide. The song navigates the emotional turmoil and isolation that can lead one to consider such a drastic escape.”

Karol continues: “Our collaboration on this song aims to spark conversations about mental health and the importance of support and resilience. With “Hang In There Kid,” we hope to reach anyone who feels overwhelmed, reminding them that there is strength in perseverance and that they are not alone in their battles.”

Following their formation in 2020, Northvale wasted no time establishing a heart-on-sleeve, emotive brand of pop-punk that displays the quintessential energy of the genre, whilst delivering honest lyricism and melodically weighted guitars.

Northvale was conceived on collaboration, and the band ensured this was a fundamental part of their formative work, teaming with The Home Team, Broadside’s Oliver Baxxter and In Her Own Words’ Joey Fleming.

Both tracks would appear on the band’s debut EP, The Things We Used To Be, a cathartic, lockdown-busting collection, offering an outlet for Northvale’s tales of loss, heartbreak and acceptance.

Early 2024 would see the New Jersey four return to the studio, collaring Brett Romnes (The Movielife, Hot Mulligan, Seaway) and Gary Cioni (Crime In Stereo, Lincoln Hotel Etiquette) for production duties.

The new cycle has been a resonating success to date. Northvale have struck an immediate and deep connection with existing and new fans alike with their cathartic, hook-lined alternative rock, effervescent in it’s candor. Summer single “Better When I Can” offered a stark look at addiction, with “Already Dead” seeing the group collaborate with The Dangerous Summer frontman AJ Perdomo.

New single, “Hang in There Kid”, is Northvale’s most personal to date. The raw and heart-wrenching look at issues of depression is a painstaking but important take on an illness that asserts it’s vice like grip on so many.
