Anaïs Cardot releases angelic debut EP ‘Pink Magnolia’

Starting her songwriting journey aged 14, Anaïs Cardot has overcome the challenges of Arthrogryposis, a disease that was said to limit the ability to walk, talk and sit. The artist has found her voice, gaining acclaim from the press and artists such as Masego, PJ Morton, and Lizzie McAlpine. With graduating from University done and dusted, the artist is now ready to make a serious impact in the industry, adding to previous features at the National Arts Center in Ottawa, Canada and Pique Festival.

Anaïs Cardot has released her wave-making EP ‘Pink Magnolia’, showcasing everything about her style in full effect and bewitching each listener with angelic songwriting that you would struggle to find a flaw in. The themes of self-love, heartbreak and discovery are weaved into the multi-language lyricism, adding a distinct depth to the topics and contrastingly transcending the words themselves. The main instrumentation role falls on the acoustic guitar or the piano, with each finding a voice of its own, playfully intertwining with Anaïs’ angelic vocal performances. Backing vocals are celestial and atmospheric, working alongside the bass and drums to add emphasis to each moment. It’s a deeply vulnerable and emotional project, one that stays with you long after the first listen, cementing the artist as a next-up contender.

Anaïs shares, “Pink Magnolia, a name with dual significance, captures the essence of my musical journey. Its roots lie in the evocative scent that followed me during the creation of these heartfelt songs, each a reflection of my transformative experiences over the past few years. I sought to depict my evolving thoughts and emotions throughout the process.

The title also serves as a metaphor, comparing my artistic journey to the Pink Magnolia’s enchanting bloom. Like the flower, this body of work remained veiled, hidden from the world before revealing its beauty, vulnerability and authenticity that resonates deeply with the listener. Thus, Pink Magnolia stands as a testament to growth, encapsulating the journey of the flower.”
