Astles releases the soft new single ‘This One’s For You’

Releasing honest, heartbreaking and warming music, Astles has the eyes of the industry, lauded by tastemakers, awarded PRS Momentum Funding and a publishing deal with Starwood Management all coming his way. Live, he often appears with the Balloon Moon Orchestra, a group of 10 musicians that help to bring his compositions to life on stage.

With his latest track ‘This One’s For You’ Astles continues to grow into his wistful compositional style, with a gorgeous approach to using orchestral instrumentation that is refreshing to hear. Where often strings are used as a cherry on the top, here they are a key ingredient, tracking the emotions that Astles is portraying and following along. With the track also featuring a very consistently driving drum part and a luxuriant piano part, the instrumentation comes together to support itself internally as much as it serves the vocals. Speaking of the vocals, Astles puts in a warming performance, floating along the track and tugging at your heartstrings with a bittersweet beauty that connects you with each gem of lyricism.

Astles explains the track, “‘This One’s For You’ is a song about realising how lucky I am to have wonderful people in my life. It’s quite easy sometimes to sit and be unhappy with how things play out, how life doesn’t quite go the way you would like at points. But I have beautiful inspiring people around me everyday who chose to spend their time, efforts and life with me. So maybe I’m doing better than I’d like to think sometimes.’

“‘This One’s For You’ is a love song, an unwanted gift almost! I have written 100’s of songs for and about the people I love and I’m sure they’re fed up with it by now. But then moments when I feel truly understood and loved, I always find myself going to write a song. There is no safer and inspiring feeling than being truly yourself. And the ones you love get you to that place time and time again.”
