Atari Pilot release charismatic single ‘The rules never change’

Swindon indie-rock four-piece Atari Pilot has made a recent resurgence after nearly a decade away from releasing music. Debuting in 2011 with the album ‘Navigation of the world by sound’ which introduced the globe to Onze on vocals, Paj on bass, Andy on drums and Frosty on guitar, the band made a return in 2020 after Onze’s recovery from cancer.

Since then, the band have released a flurry of singles, their new track ‘The rules never change’ being the latest of these charming unveilings. Built on a nostalgic and ethereal synth line and defenceless vocal delivery, the track introduces a pounding bass and drum section that adds a marching energy to the soundscape. The chorus introduces listeners to soaring electric guitar melodies and an infectious lead vocal melody that enforces the charismatic performance.

The band add, “This was a nice change up , those baggy drums with a more funky bass line. The theme of the song being how we’re sometimes drawn to things that are bad for us and we have to handle the consequences.”
