Neo-soul singer-songwriter B3XX hails from Florida but brings a timeless and floating approach to her music that feels universal and worldly. Her influences, from Ariana Grande to Lauryn Hill, are worn on her sleeve, but she effortlessly weaves together emotional and heart-touching sounds.
Submitted to NPR’s Tiny Desk series, B3XX couldn’t have picked a better track than her very own ‘Solar Plexus.’ The music steadily pulls back the curtain on a sleek and bright soulful bop. Stirring foundations from melodic basslines and sweeping instrumentation leave vocals to shine, with gorgeous harmonies taking the moment to new heights.
Through the warmth, B3XX brings plenty of space, giving each instrument, each voice and each melody its own area of control, letting them loose on different journeys towards the same destination.
“Solar Plexus is a track that I wrote to my younger self,” B3XX shares. “I went through a dark time in my music career where I felt I ran out of options and focused solely on other’s opinions. Naturally, when we go through things we tend to only focus on the bad. At a certain point, you have to let go, lean back & let God do his thing with your life. 9 times out of 10, you’ll always end up in a better situation than you thought you would. It may take some time to get there, but Solar Plexus is a reminder not to waste too much time, wasting time. Your dream can only become your reality if YOU believe that it will.”
