Brooklyn artist-producer Bailey Hamrick first came onto the scene in 2022, after releasing a string of EPs and albums, garnering acclaim for his work and unique blend of alt-folk and indie rock.
Bailey’s most recent release is the EP The Guest Room, which features some of his vulnerable work to date, an extension of his last album Just Around The Corner. It’s a heart-wrenching, emotional listen, tracking through some of the deepest personal stories we can all relate to, but are often too scared to bring to the surface.
Insecurities are laid bare, and across the five tracks, Bailey steadily introduces broader, more indie sounds, and with it comes a higher sense of optimism, though the foundations are often still settled on a solemn reflection of the world around him.
Bailey explains in his own words, “This EP is somewhat of a continuation of my last album, Just Around The Corner. While that album explored the process of separating from someone you love and moving forward, this EP, The Guest Room, is about desperation — the feeling that having a partner is the only thing that can fix my problems, to the point where I’m willing to give up my personal aspirations and what makes me who I am. Lines like “I am not afraid of being nothing, but I am scared of ending up alone,” followed by, “Who am I if I am not an artist?” reflect the thought process I had while making this project.”
