Beat the Drum returns with an electrifying cover of ‘No More Heroes’

Fresh off the success of their 2024 single, ‘Before the Fall’, Beat the Drum is back with a powerful and energetic rendition of The Stranglers’ classic 1977 hit, ‘No More Heroes’. This cover pulsates with strong vocals and a fierce emotional core. The band blends gritty guitars with their signature sleek brass injections, creating an addictive sound that balances homage to the original with a vibrant, alternative nostalgia. The result is a track that reverberates with a rebellious spirit while delivering a fresh, modern twist.

The band explains, “We were working on a very insistent raw guitar riff, which had this punky energy and attitude that developed into our cover of ‘No More Heroes’. The original version of the song had a lot of widdley keyboards and guitar noodling which we have dispensed with. Stripped back to its bare bones the attitude and spirit shine more brightly in this powerful and energetic song.”

Beat the Drum, founded by writers and producers Chris Calloway and Steve Murrell, initially gained traction in the late eighties with their unique sound in the club and small venue circuit. Despite early fragmentation and various projects, the duo reunited in 2016, reinstating their independent status with a series of acclaimed releases. Known for their evolving music that defies genre constraints, they continue to shape their unique vision with each new project. Their latest offering, ‘No More Heroes’, encapsulates their journey and artistic growth, reaffirming their commitment to making music on their terms. As Beat the Drum looks to the future, fans can expect more groundbreaking releases that push the boundaries of their sound.
