The world of music is vast and expansive, and the sheer number of genres around means artists have many ways to express themselves. For Bernadett, her instrument of choice is the violin, most commonly associated with classical music. On her latest single, “Palladio,” however, Bernadett takes your preconceptions of the violin and throws caution to the wind, crafting her own special sound around it. The question is, how does it sound?
Bernadett hails from a family of musicians, with her grandfather, József B. Suha, being one of Hungary’s greatest violinists and composers. As such, from a young age, Bernadett was already learning the ins and outs of the violin, instilling in her a love for music. Where she changes things up however are in her musical influences, and this is reflected in “Palladio.”
Unlike what one would expect, the single is actually a mash of multiple different genres. It takes musical inspiration from genres, with epic themes of film music and even some elements of electronic music thrown into the mix. There’s even some hardcore drumming going on in sections of the song, making for a fairly enthralling listening experience all throughout.
The violin is undoubtedly the hero of “Palladio,” being the lead instrument of the song. Bernadett’s playing here is simply wonderful, carrying a lot of regalia and class. The way it plays along with all the elements in the song is also very well done, really adding a lot to the single. Even for people who aren’t big fans of the instrument, we recommend giving this one a listen just for how different it is in the mix.
Speaking of the mix, it’s simply fantastic here. With so many different elements at play in an instrumental song, it’s easy for some essential parts to be overshadowed, but not here. Every instrument gets its moment to shine, building a wall of sound that’s easy to get swept away in. Even the electronic elements blend in seamlessly, making the song a real treat for the ears.
Overall, “Palladio,” is a real treat for the eyes, one that came out of nowhere and completely took this writer by surprise. It’s a pleasant surprise of course, and one that you really need to listen to to believe. It’s such a fascinating blend of different sounds, and the lead violin adds a touch of regalia to the overall composition that makes it so enjoyable. We give “Palladio,” a hearty recommendation!
