Belgian singer and songwriter Blanche got her first moments in the spotlight after representing her country in the 2017 Eurovision contest with the song ‘City Lights’, that has since become a massive hit and amassed more than 27 million streams on Spotify, cementing her as a promising pop up-and-comer. Now, three years and a handful of singles later Blanche has finally released her debut album EMPIRE, and it’s a truly impressive effort.
Featuring previously released singles such as ‘1, 2, Miss You’ and ‘Fences’, EMPIRE is filled with heartfelt and relatable gems that combine alt-pop aesthetics with subtle electronic influences to create a unique and coherent sound. Standout track ‘Till We Collide’ is driven by impressive vocal harmonies and an anthems chorus, while songs like ‘Summer Nights’ and ‘Pain’ really show how vast Blanche’s artistic influences are. Blanche explain:
“Empire is an album to be digested from start to finish, whereby every song has been placed with intention. Empire is rich in arrangements, nuanced in its rhythms, and dripped in diversified themes. This is my album; these are my songs and my feelings. Some songs are more personal, others are like modern tales.”
