Canned Pineapple release their playful new teaser ‘Elvis’

Canned Pineapple is a Brighton-based group that seems to have captivated tastemakers not just within Britain but all over the world. Highlighted by the full span of prestige music press, played across BBC and Radio X station, and sharing stages with LCD Soundsystem and The Last Dinner Party, they’ve got a pretty flushed-out CV for a band debuting as near as 2022. Now they kickstart 2025 with a new EP Big Break, out next month.

Their latest track, ‘Elvis,’ is brimming with nostalgic tones and vibrant grooves. The guitarists spend the verses amusing themselves with bluesy grooves and a playful nature but provide an explosive arrival alongside full drum rhythms for the chorus. The diving between fuzzy guitars, doo-wop vocals and indie psychedelia makes for a bright and unpredictable listening experience, nonetheless capturing your attention with an unstoppable charm.

The band shares, “‘Elvis’ was written as a sort of sequel to one of our collective favourite songs ‘Alison’ by Elvis Costello; a song about Costello running into an ex-lover and having a new husband. We thought it was funny the idea of Seán being Alison’s new husband as sometimes he gets comments about looking like Costello with the glasses and suit y’know. Maybe Alison is only married to Seán because she never got over Costello. Poor Seán but… Who could blame her!”
