London five-piece Car Boot Sale are newcomers who have received a wave of industry support thanks to their high-octane, rock ‘n’ roll approach to songwriting. They’ve opened for Fat Dog and Opus Kink, toured with Goa Express and now embark on their first UK headliner tour. A slew of festivals, editorial placement and Radio 1 airplay all point their direction forward.
Their latest release, and their second of 2024, is the energetic ‘Feet Tappin’. Lightly whimsical, rhythmic and excitable, the track does exactly as the title suggests, evoking an unstoppable movement in the listener. A firework of guitar riffs cymbals and vocal harmony fills the choruses, sparkling the atmosphere with indie charm and a gritty, saturated lead vocal. In between these explosive moments, the music serves to build tension, building up dense layers of instrumentation that desperately wants to break from its cage.
The band dives into the release, “We recorded the track ourselves in a basement studio in Dalston. It’s a place where we’ve been honing our craft for the past year now. The energy of that place is special as you can hear the footsteps of the bustling high street, nearby bars and dingy clubs overhead, and that inevitably seeped into the session.
Feet tappin’ is about letting go, dancing and freeing yourself of inhibitions. It’s a rocker that doesn’t let up; one to get the front row bouncing and the soundtrack to a sticky, smoke filled dance floor.”
