Growing up in a suburb of North London, Chel’s teenage years were spent enrolled in a school of performing arts, where her love for music flourished and her talents shined. After a year of open mic performances, 2018 saw the release of debut EP ‘Reclaiming My Love’, with future releases seeing a range of press attention.
Chel also brings her R&B-pop sound to screen, producing videos for her singles Next Level’ and ‘Pesa (Give It All)’. In 2021, she released two projects ‘NOLAH’ and ‘Love.Obsession.Lust’, showing her ferocity for taking on the industry, now returning in 2023.
The latest single from Chel is ‘Sweet Spot’. Her first release of the year, she returns with a floating beat and angelic vocal performances with her soaring melodies backed up by warm harmonies that allure and entice. Lyrically, the track is heavily romantic, with Chel capturing the love of intimacy she feels.
Featuring a reverberant guitar, and relaxed yet consistently full drum parts. The beat feels both heavy and euphoric, with crisp percussion contrasting the punchy kick drum, Chel’s signature R&B-afropop blend being showcases in vibrant colour.
Chel shares, “I wanted to express how I love on the person I’m interested in. I’m intentional and focused, more importantly I have fun. The dating game can be fake, everyone is pretending, and people often can’t meet the expectations they set. I like to be real, honest and in the moment. I value the same in return, so I wrote about it.”
