Hot off the success of his debut single release last month, Glawegian folk-pop newcomer Christy returns with a new sublimely evocative single, ‘Remember Me Well’.
A message to an ex-lover, the track is yet another demonstration of Christy’s astoundingly moving vocals, which move through an yearning midrange to tender falsetto, whilst demonstrating Christy’s ability to naturally build rich musical soundscapes from the ground up.
Urged forward by the metronomic yet sweet sounding and delicate piano, the song features a tender, solitary violin which swells into an eloquent, heartrending crescendo accompanied by group backing vocals and Christy’s sailing falsetto over the top. There’s an aching sense of hopefulness in the air as Christy sings “talk of me sweetly, the stories you tell”, asking in the hope that he can be a positive force in a past loved one’s memory.
Of the single, Christy said: “I wanted to build up to this beautiful wall of sound…Like I’m in a summer’s garden, like I’m sitting on the grass with all these flowers growing up around me.”
The single is the second installment to Christy’s debut EP ‘Homegrown’ which is set to arrive later this year. Listen to ‘Remember Me Well’ below.
