Colleen will return with a new album in October, hear the first single ‘Separating’

French art-pop auteur, Colleen, will return this autumn with a new album to bring us solace as we head into the darkest time of the year. The album, entitled A flame my love, a frequency, will see release through Thrill Jockey on 20th October.

For A flame my love, a frequency, Colleen has stepped away from the instrument she is most known for, the viola, in favour of Moog pedals and Critter and Guitari synthesizers. The result is an album that has a singular concept running through it, of Colleen reflecting on her emotional movements over the course of a year, coming to terms with inextricable nature of life and death, and enjoying the beauty of her wilderness-filled home in southern Spain.

She has delivered the first opportunity for us to intrude on this intimate artwork with lead single ‘Separating‘, which you can hear below.

This autumn, Colleen will be heading to Europe in support of A flame my love, a frequency with a completely reconfigured synthesizer setup, through which she will bring these tales into painful, delicate existence. Dates will be announced shortly.
