Crispus Attucks and The Love Muskets hail from New York, their garage-punk sensibilities drawing attention since their 2021 debut. Their focus on full-length projects has made each release a poignant moment in the duo’s career. Attucks for America and Reimagination, were first to grace the ears of fans, and the band has now released a six-track EP, …and the War Came, once again bringing their thought-provoking lyricism and riotous live-feel to the recording studio.
Transforming the landscape across the projects, they root down in heavy distortion, but each riff remains meticulous and intricate. The moments of shadowy acoustic guitar or lightly overdriven, electric energy contrast the sudden roar of anguish from the lead lines.
The vocals are as socially conscious as ever, poetic in their examination of the world that surrounds Crispus Attucks and The Love Muskets. Finding their unique style, blending cinematic arrangements with raw dynamism and punk-edged pop infectiousness, the band could fill a stadium with each of the six tracks, covering life’s optimistic and pernicious elements with the same careful approach.
The duo share, “Creating ‘…and the War Came’ was an intensive and rewarding journey that spanned over a year. We started crafting this song with a vision to encapsulate the political divisions of our time, aiming to convey both the challenges and the resilience we see around us. We believe this song has the potential to spark meaningful conversations and we’re committed to reaching as many listeners as possible”.
