Nobody is a young independent artist from London.
She has just unveiled her latest single ‘Daydreamer’.
‘Daydreamer’ treats us to a stirring vocal performance and catchy pop melodies, these set the perfect stage for Nobody’s beautiful lyrics.
Nobody took some time out of her hectic schedule to answer a few questions about her music and other interests.
1) How did you get into music in the first place?
It may sound cheesy, but music has been part of my DNA since I was born, my parents’ influence was crucial in my upbringing. I mean, I was watching the ’85 Live Aid DVD twice a day when I was six or seven, that’s pretty self-revelatory!
I always wanted to be a drummer, but my parents were scared of the noise. So, one day, my dad got me a guitar, as a sort of compromise. I never looked back to drums!
2) Who were your musical influences?
Bruce Springsteen is and will always be my number one inspiration. We are all huge fans in the family, so I didn’t have a choice! He inspires me to always write better lyrics and melodies, song after song.
I am also hugely inspired by Italian singer-songwriters from the 70s and 80s – I am Italian after all! – as I find their poetic extremely fascinating.
3) What tunes are currently on repeat on your Mp3 Player?
As I like pretty much everything, my music library doesn’t make much sense! I am currently obsessed with LA-based acts called Swimm and Lauren Ruth Ward, as well as singer-songwriter Josiah and The Bonnevilles. Very different styles but all extremely talented!
4) What’s your life outside of music?
I would say very boring, as I’m not a party animal. I wake up fairly early, exercise, practice my singing and go to work. I like to decompress by spending time with family and friends, and before Covid-19, you could always find me at a gig enjoining a pint.
5) If you could collaborate with any singer who would it be?
I would love to collaborate with FINNEAS. I think he is a brilliant mind in regard to producing, songwriting and performing. He seems pretty laid back too! I feel I would learn so much from a session with him.
6) What’s your favourite genre of music?
I am more prone to listen to rock and alternative pop, but I don’t have a favourite genre of music. I tend to say that I like good music: if the production is original, it will grab my attention no matter the genre it belongs to!
7) What’s next for you musically?
I’m so excited about this project because I fully challenged myself: I changed my artist name, changed sound and genre and, most of all, I embarked on this adventure with a new team, starting with a new manager and a new producer.
After Daydreamer, we are planning to release another single and a very special music video along with it. I am so thrilled and I hope people will embrace this journey with me!
8) What are your strengths and weaknesses?
I consider myself an organised person, I must have a daily or weekly schedule otherwise I will go crazy!
I am also the most punctual person you will ever meet, weird for a musician, right?
However, I am anxious and extremely stubborn, it’s hard to stop me when I have an idea in mind.
Thankfully the people I work with know this and appreciate this side of me as well!
9) Where do you draw inspiration for your song lyrics?
I try to draw inspiration from everything that’s happening around and inside of me.
I always write lyrics ideas on my phone, and it can be after a weird dream, a conversation with a friend or a chat I overheard on the bus.
What I’m being most careful about is chasing the perfect balance between too personal and too generic stories.
You don’t want to bore people with your personal problems, but you want to smoothly touch their hearts so that the song can resonate with their experiences.
10) What is your guilty pleasure?
Ah, I have so many guilty pleasures that they are not even “guilty” anymore!
I am a massive Cardi B fan and I dream of seeing her live someday!
She is definitely my go-to artist when I need a banger in my car or in the shower.
She is the opposite of the music genre I belong to, but her persona, her energy and passion got the best of me.
