DD Allen, on the front of it may just look like another songwriter with an electric guitar with his hair waving around incessantly, but in reality could front the next real wave of the indie grunge rock scene. Brought up on a fix of 80s and 90s synth based and guitar driven rock ‘n’ roll, DD seems to have found his perfect blend of previous genre explorations of folk and hard hitting indie, and subtly implemented it into ‘I See You in the Dark’. With a haunting yet delicate vocal, coupled with a very familiar synth driven sound and fantastic production, the result is a powerful statement from an artist that is a real force to be reckoned with. Keep an eye out for DD Allen in the years to come.
