Deja Renee is a San Diego-based singer/songwriter who has traditionally rooted her music in emotional pop and R&B. Her upbringing was filmed with music, her grandma’s love for oldies, her mom’s love for R&B and a place in the choir all led to her pursuing an Associate of Arts in Music Performance for Classical Voice at MiraCosta College. After chart success with singles and EPs, Deja now unveils ‘Fantasy’.
The new single brings a new vibe to Deja’s sound, the sleek R&B sounds of punchy 808s, bouncy, clap-filled drums and shimmering instrumentation and vocal layers, all markers of the renewed ideas.
The chorus is effortlessly infectious, ringing out with catchy vocal top lines whilst shining with angelic harmonies that are produced to perfection. The energy is unparalleled as Deja embraces a flirtatious attitude above the twinkling synths. The contrast between bright melodies and dark, rich bass is always an enticing prospect, but Deja adds a unique, personality-filled twist that you just can’t ignore.
Sharing a comment on the song’s new feel, Deja adds, ”I wrote this song to take a completely different direction with my music, in hopes of reaching a new audience and fan base. I’m wanting this to be the song to finally take me to the next level.”
