Dogviolet release rebellious single ‘Dandelion’

Dogviolet is no stranger to tastemaker support, they’ve been picked up by publications and radio and made it onto lineups alongside GENN and The Wedding President across the country.

With their latest single, ‘Dandelion’, the London four-piece brings a haunting and dark sound alongside a lyrical exploration of social justice and a rejection of capitalist culture. It’s assertive and sharp but ultimately dream-like, with the shoegaze flourish of their alternative rock sound appearing front and centre within certain moments.

The arrangement is striking, creating an intentional sense of heaviness in the words, weighed down by the world but growing into something more powerful in the rebellion. Fuzzy guitar tones weave perfectly with the moody but melodically precise vocal lines. The track’s steadiness is its drive, as the arrangement expands, it doesn’t lose itself or get overtly energetic, just settles in and continues on, making for an intensifying and powerful listen.

Naz Toorabally, a founding member shares, “Like so-called weeds, people are often judged by their usefulness under capitalism rather than their inherent worth. ‘Dandelion’ is a reminder that we are more than our productivity and a call to come together to build the world we need.”
