Melbourne singer-songwriter Dom Brinkley just released his new live album, ‘Live at the Penny Black‘. The album was a bit of a goodbye for Dom, it was recorded during his final show at the iconic Melbourne venue before moving to Mparntwe/ Alice Springs. The 8-track album authentically captures the energy of the band’s live show and the vibe of shows at Penny Black.
The album opens with ‘Space’, a song originally released on his 2023 The Butterfly EP, showcasing Dom’s vocal command and the group’s lead guitar work. Another standout comes halfway through with ‘Butterfly’ — an upbeat, feel-good tune that leans on the lead guitar’s infectiously driving and catchy riff. The song’s energy is as striking live as it is from the studio.
Recorded by Aiden Scott from Big Scary Media, the album keeps things authentic, raw and honest—just like a real Melbourne gig. ‘Live at the Penny Black’ is a solid send-off from Dom’s hometown, and a great taste of his live sound.
