On February 5th, 2025, Dr. Albert Mbada released his new single, ‘Aka E Kaya‘, an inspirational and heartfelt track that urges young people to build and invest in their roots, rather than chasing temporary dreams far from home. The song, deeply rooted in African Traditional music, calls for the youth to focus on long-term, meaningful development in their hometowns instead of spending their resources elsewhere.
The inspiration for Aka E Kaya came to Dr. Mbada in a moment of deep reflection as he gazed at his yard in Venda. “I looked at my yard and appreciated all that God has done for me,” he shares. “It was then that the song came to me, and I felt the need to speak to the youth about the importance of building at home, not elsewhere.” In the song, Dr. Mbada encourages young people to stop migrating to cities like Gauteng, spending money on unnecessary things, and instead focus on creating a foundation at home, where they come from. The recording process for Aka E Kaya took place in a humble studio that didn’t resemble a typical professional setup, but as Dr. Mbada reflects, the results speak for themselves. Working alongside talented collaborators Glory and Fanie Bvuma, the creation of this track marked the birth of Dr. Mbada’s first xiTsonga song, a milestone he believes will go down as one of the best in the history of xiTsonga music.
