Etaoin Releases New Single ‘If You Called’

Singer-songwriter Etaoin’s latest single ‘If You Called‘ is an acoustic folk-pop ballad that features a darker twist on her sound. With just the Irish artist’s powerful vocals and an underlying guitar, Etaoin’s brutal honesty is put on full display, evolving her sound from her recent EP release, ‘I Hate Everyone (but I don’t mind you)‘.

Laid out like a lyrical apology to a past partner, ‘If You Called‘s reflective, sombre tone is complemented with Etaoin’s first ever music video which sees an emotional nighttime escape, capturing the drama and guilt behind the story. Finding inspiration in her songwriting from her personal life, and experiences with love, loss, and heartbreak, the new single is a more melancholic look at her stunning sound.

Speaking on the inspiration behind the track, Etaoin says: “He was so patient and kind and everything I should have needed, but I was so hurt and scarred that I was too scared to trust any boy and I didn’t want to commit. This caused a lot of issues and nine months in we called it quits. I realised after it all went down that I really put him through hell by pushing him away and acting like I didn’t care all the time.”
