Flatwoods release new single ‘Back to the Breakline’

Flatwoods is staying busy in 2025, bringing fans their fifth release of the year, ‘Back to the Breakline‘. They’ve found their voice with a raw, full, yet stripped down type of sound that hits in all the right ways. Listening to ‘Back to the Breakline’ feels like you’re hanging out with friends.

The band blends acoustic rock with bits of folk, country, and even a little punk attitude to create their sound. The vocals are rough around the edges in the best way—honest and gritty. It’s the kind of track that sounds like it was recorded on a front porch just after a thunderstorm.

The song itself is an emotional trip through heartbreak, regret, and longing. It’s not a straight story, but the emotions come through. The lyrics, “In the off chance you’d dance with me one more time. I would care to have your hand, and we could dance. In the off chance you’d understand, that I am just a crazy lonely man. Love struck with lighting post’s, hands tied with garden hose”. hit raw and a little unhinged—but that’s what makes it work.

If you’re into artists like John Prine, Jason Isbell, or Lucero, Flatwoods should be on your radar. ‘Back to the Breakline’ is that type of sad that’s beautiful—another solid step down the dusty road they’re walking—and we’re here for the ride.

Listen to ‘Back to the Breakline’ by Flatwoods, out now.
