Since its 2018 formation, the Suffolk band Fleas has extended its influence far beyond the county borders. Receiving radio and tastemaker praise, their alternative-hardcore sound has impressed time after time.
Now, finally, we have a full-fledged debut album to sink our teeth into. Bringing the live sounds of riotous stage presence and gut-punching noise to your headphones, Imagine If There Was More opens with rage and rarely lets off the accelerator pedal.
Dark, brooding and distorted, it’s perfectly aggressive. There are drops into darker, reflective solemnity, which comes at an even more attention-grabbing contrast, thanks to the height of the highs and the brutality of tracks that surround it.
They’re fresh, unfiltered and driven, with excellent tones, roaring production and just the right amount of screams to maximise intensity and minimise unnecessary exaggeration.
The band explains the project, “The album ranges in topics, from mental health, to today’s social climate, and experiences with love and protecting those closest to us. It was recorded in a very DIY set up, mostly in bedrooms and rehearsal spaces, captured by the wildly talented Alec Jarman; he was instrumental in bringing our vision to life.”
‘Imagine If There Was More’ is out now!
