Genevieve Miles is sure to make huge waves with new single ‘Storm Before’, produced by Carlos de los Santos (Neon Islands, Simple Fiction). Her brand of sad girl synth pop is infused with jazz and soul influences on this indie track, which is warm and ambient like a dose of sonic sunshine. Miles’ smooth voice is accompanied by shimmering guitar as she delivers dreamy harmonies on this irresistible record.
Speaking of her new release, Miles says: “This song is a special one, it really sounds like my soul. First off, it’s a love song, but looking back at it now I’m also talking about the long cyclical process of healing. “This rain could not compare to the storm that came before last summer”: healing and growth never end and when pain randomly comes up again, even though it’s hard each time, maybe it’s a little different, a little better than the time before, cause you’ve learnt so much since then, you have so many new tools to work with and look after yourself.”
Hailing from Birmingham, Genevieve Miles has gained support from BBC Radio, including a set at BBC Introducing Live 2019 in London and their joint showcase with Birmingham Music Awards in February 2020. Her last single ‘Magic Man’ received support from the likes of BBC Introducing, Hoxton Radio’s Get In Her Ears, The Rodeo, comeherefloyd and Words For Music, as well as airtime on Australian radio station Phoenix. Miles is definitely on track towards great things, and 2021 is set to be her year.
